A Message from the President
To: Our Insured/Owners, the Nevada Physician Community and the Insurance Agents and Defense Lawyers Who Serve Them
Nevada Mutual was formed in 2002 in response to an unparalleled crisis in the availability and cost of medical malpractice insurance. At our formation, we immediately implemented a plan to stabilize costs and defend doctors. Our belief, based upon the proven results in many other states, is that a stable, affordable medical malpractice market leads directly to better health care for Nevadans.
Nevada Mutual has been and is a strong supporter of the tort reform law enacted by the citizens of Nevada in a ballot initiative. Partially as a result of that legislation, Nevada Mutual has been able to lower its rates, repay its founders surplus notes used to start the company and return over $1,100,000 in dividends to its insureds. That tort reform is now under attack by trial attorneys seeking to roll back certain of its key provisions by tarring all Nevada doctors with the allegations made in the Endoscopy Clinic claims. As in the past, Nevada Mutual is speaking out in defense of Nevada’s doctors and for the continuation of the tort reform that has improved the quality of health care in Nevada. The participation of doctors and healthcare workers has been a successful difference these past seven years. We invite you to call Chip Wallace at 702-798-6001 to find out how you can get involved.
With your support, Nevada Mutual has grown to become the largest Nevada doctor owned insurer. During the past year we:
• Weathered the current financial crisis without a single investment write down or capital loss.
• Achieved an “A” Exceptional financial stability rating from Demotech, an industry recognized rating agency.
We have appreciated your support and will continue our efforts to keep the Nevada medical malpractice insurance market stable and cost competitive. Your premiums, when paid to Nevada Mutual, support these efforts.
Sincerely,

Andrew M. O’Brien
President
